As Iowa’s only R2v3-Certified electronics recycler, Electronic Asset Security’s mission is to secure our client’s data, and keep e-waste out of our state’s landfills. You can trust us to handle your organization’s equipment and data in the most secure and environmentally responsible way possible. We make our money from extended services for business and consumers, so that we can keep the costs of recycling low, or even free!
While we primarily work with businesses to secure their data, we work with consumers too! Anyone is welcome to drop off recyclables anytime we are open Monday thru Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Yes, we offer pickup service anywhere in Iowa or metropolitan areas just across the border. Typically, within a 3-hour drive. Our truck can carry 12 pallets maximum. Our logistics coordinator can also arrange LTL or FTL freight from anywhere in the United States if required.
We offer free pickup in the Des Moines Metro area (within 30 miles) if you have at least a few pallets worth, or there is a minimal $60 charge. Other charges are detailed in the “Travel Charges” section below.
We also offer FREE TRAVEL for route pickups. If you aren’t on our Route List yet, please send us a message through the contact form and we will add you.
Most recycling is free of charge, with some exceptions for CRTs, TVs, printers, and some batteries.
We do charge for services such as Audit & Inventory or Secure Destruction of data-containing media with a certificate of destruction. Please refer to the pricing table below for more details.
Electronic Asset Security is Iowa’s ONLY R2v3 certified electronics recycler. ALL data-containing devices we accept are either destroyed or securely cleared of data before leaving our facility, with no exceptions. We do NOT take chances with your data!

* Some items may incur a small fee for recycling or secure destruction (if desired), depending on the event. Please see the detailed event descriptions below.
What We DON'T Accept:
- Household items such as cans, bottles, cardboard, and plastics
- Paints, chemicals, solvents, automotive parts & fluids, and fertilizers
- Fuel canisters or gas cylinders
- Appliances, Microwaves, Fans, Air Conditioners, etc
- Anything that may contain refrigerant
- Light Bulbs & Fluorescent Lamps
- Fluorescent Ballasts
- High Voltage Industrial Transformers
- Anything else with hazardous waste, such as PCBs, Asbestos, Mercury, gunpowder, or other flammable or explosive substances
Travel Charges
- A $60 Trip Charge applies (regardless of location) if the quantity to be picked up is less than 3 pallets 4ft high or equivalent, or the billable for non-mileage and labor charges is less than $300 (picking up a box of drives to shred, for example).
- Mileage is billed at $1.75 per mile round trip; the first 30 miles (60 miles round trip) are free. Mileage is calculated from our warehouse address at 4331 112th St. Urbandale, IA 50322.
- Travel Charges are waived for pickups on scheduled regional routes. Please get in touch with us to be put on the Route List!
Labor Charges
- When hauling, packaging, or palletization is necessary, a labor fee of $75 per hour per tech on site is applicable.
