Every year, millions of electronic devices end up in landfills, many of them still functional or repairable. At Electronic Asset Security (EAS), we believe old tech shouldn’t be wasted. Instead, we give it a new purpose, one device at a time.
A Mission Rooted in Inclusion and Impact
EAS is proud to partner with Best Buddies, a nonprofit that creates opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Through this partnership, we collect gently used devices, laptops, tablets, and smartphones, and give them a second life.
Here’s how it works:
- Donated devices are securely wiped using certified data destruction methods
- Each device is tested and refurbished with a clean operating system
- Devices are donated to Best Buddies participants for school, work, and connection
How Technology Empowers Buddies
For many in the Best Buddies program, access to a working device opens doors:
- Applying for jobs and writing resumes
- Participating in online learning
- Communicating with friends and family
- Exploring hobbies and interests
Old tech becomes a tool for independence, inclusion, and growth.
Your Role in Making a Difference
If you have a gently used laptop, tablet, or smartphone under six years old, you can help. Just remove any personal accounts, include the power cord, and drop it off at our Urbandale office. We handle the rest.
Donation Criteria:
- Devices under 6 years old
- Include power cords
- No heavy damage or cracks
- Factory reset (if possible)
